A Belt Buckle with Western Appeal

When we think of a belt buckle most of us usually vision a western cowboy with a huge silver round buckle attached to their belt cinching up their western denim duds. The cowboy image has long been accompanied by the belt and buckle.  The only ones that fancied up their leather straps or belt for short was the western cowboy.  Many years ago that was just the case but today more than ever the belt and buckle have crossed into new generations of styles and genres.

The times have changed and so have the western fashion designs.  Most of the western belt buckles that are worn are those that have been won in some western competition, rodeo or horse event.  Instead of a trophy to place on a shelf to collect dust the belt buckle was the trophy.  Winning first place in barrel racing or winning the bull riding event, belt buckles have now become the trophy shelf.

The styles are endless when it comes to those trophy belt buckles.  Some have precious and semi-precious jewels.  The most common form of decoration used is a ruby.  Rubies are embedded into the florets design in the buckles for a bling appeal.  Emeralds, turquoise and sapphires are also some very popular stones.  Some buckles have a black background with a rose gold foreground of decorations.

The more popular and common buckles are sterling silver with a rope edge and the winning event and date engraved as decoration.  Those who have never competed and have had the privilege of winning a western belt buckle can purchase them with the horse figure or some other type of western look on them.

Recently western has gone bling.  Buckles now have rhinestones and jewels on them to maximize the most amount of sparkle as they can.  Not only are the buckles “blinged out” but the belts are as well.  Large crystals layer the length of the belt and turn waistlines into a grand shine.  These are fun buckles and the more rhinestones the better.

The rodeo contestants wear the belt buckle and belt when competing for a gorgeous look on their horse.  It’s eye-catching and you really stand out with the audiences.  Those who love their western fashion will most likely have a collection of buckles for their look.  The ranch look with the turquoise to the ritzy cowgirl and her bling!   A must for everyone’s fashion accessory.
